Meet Our Staff

At Trunkey Dental, our staff is dedicated to providing you with our “Five Star” service. Each member of our team works together to meet all the dental needs of our patients in a gentle, professional, and caring manner. We take great pride in our knowledge and experience and are committed to making your next visit a great one.

Clinical Administrator

Kathy helps all our staff create a warm and caring haven for our dental family. She oversees development and training of our employees, provides back up for our wonderful Patient Coordinator, Brandi, and keeps everyone well fed!

Kathy met Dr. Trunkey while she was in Nursing school & he in Dental School. They got married two weeks after their graduations and, in January of 1981, they purchased a dental practice here in Bakersfield. Kathy loves reading and cooking but most of all, spending time with her grandkids. In fact, if you don’t see Kathy at her desk in the corner, she’s either exercising with her best bud or off to the beach visiting her very precious grandkids!

Treatment Coordinator/Front Office Team Leader

Brandi beautifully wears many hats, handling all our scheduling, financial agreements, and front office administration. She takes great pride in finding solutions to patients’ concerns and is an expert in figuring out ways to make dentistry affordable.

Brandi is a Bakersfield native who loves to entertain, vacationing as often as possible, and juggling 2 leashes while walking the dogs (or do they walk her?). She is a mother of 2 teenagers and yet still manages to take great care of all our patients!

Office Assistant

Pat was voted as the one person each of our staff would like to have at their back in a dark alley! Quite the spitfire, Pat moved to Bakersfield 47 years ago as a new bride. Her philosophy is “it takes a village” to keep an office running smoothly. This is where Pat’s skills are greatly appreciated. She has been in the dental field for over 26 years, 13 of them with Dr. Trunkey. Pat can handle any task, great or small, that’s thrown her way.

A multi-tasker extraordinaire, Pat also enjoys spending time attending the sporting events of any one of her 12 grandkids! She also loves reading, shopping and visiting with her 5 children.

RDAEF2/Back Office Team Leader

Melanie is an outstanding dental assistant with over 16 years of experience. Earning her RDAEF2 in 2015, she enjoys helping her patients have healthy smiles. Our patients appreciate her soft touch and know they are in excellent, caring hands as she has made the comfort of her patients a top priority.

Melanie & her husband Josh have three adorable daughters who want to be ‘real’ princesses when they grow up. She enjoys family movie nights, trips to the beach, Disney Marathons, gardening and creative art projects.

Patient Coordinator

Leah is the wonderfully friendly voice you hear answering our phone. New to dentistry, Leah is excited to help patients get on the path to great dental health!

Leah is a hometown girl. You might even see her riding her bike on the weekends with other members of the Beach Cruisers Club of Bakersfield or floating down the Kern River in the summertime. She has two grandbabies under the age of two born 10 days apart that keep her on her toes!

Front Office Coordinator

Carolyn has recently returned to our office after chasing her love of teaching for 10 years. We are ecstatic to have her enthusiastic spirit and compassion for our patients at our front desk again.
When Carolyn isn’t in the office, she can usually be found spending time with her adorable grandson. Nothing brings her more joy than playing with him at the park or sneaking him some chocolate. (That’s what grandparents do right?)

Registered Dental Hygienist

Alissa has recently returned to our fair city and we were fortunate enough to have her choose us! Alissa finds that her patients’ comfort is first and foremost on the list of her specialties. She has been in the dental field for ten years and takes great pride in her relationships with her patients and coworkers.

When Alissa isn’t taking care of our beloved patients, she is spending time with her two little girls. You can also find her in church or traveling, reading or visiting with her friends and family.

Registered Dental Hygienist

Fatima is one of our very talented hygienists and has managed to capture the hearts of her many grateful patients. Aside from Fatima’s sweet disposition, she is also exceedingly gentle and approaches her craft with a delicate hand.

Spending time with her husband Joseph and their two sons is Fatima’s favorite hobby! When they aren’t running to their son’s baseball practices and games on the weekends, you can find them riding the sand dunes by the coast or desert.

Registered Dental Assistant

Griselda moved to Bakersfield in 2010. She is a wonderful asset to our Trunkey Dental family. With 19 years’ experience, she loves to help others and enjoys making them smile. You will recognize Griselda as she is the one with the beautiful flowers in her hair!

Never one to sit still for very long, Griselda also enjoys swimming, skating, traveling and playing games with her husband and four kids. And if that’s not enough to do, she enjoys listening to music and spending time with her 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Dental Assistant

Kelsey recently moved back to Bakersfield after working in beautiful Alaska for 4 years, coordinating services for busloads of eager tourists. She left the wilds of Alaska to return home to raise her baby close to family. She has been a dental assistant for 5 years, but with hospitality in her background, she is no stranger to going above and beyond for patients’ comfort and happiness. Just like family is important to her, she strives to make all patients feel as if they are one of her own.
When Kelsey is not working, she is probably lost somewhere outdoors with her daughter. Her passion for outdoors has taken her to some beautiful places. She also enjoys the slow days of summer spent with family, especially when there’s good music and good food.

Dental Assistant

Jessica is an awesome asset to our staff. If something is broken, she’ll figure out a way to fix it! We all enjoy her quirky sense of humor and she always keeps the office staff entertained.

Jessica loves sci-fi, computers, Capuchin monkeys, and running obstacle courses.

After spending 20 years as an Army wife and seeing the world, she now lives in Bakersfield with her husband, and her two youngest children.
